Connacht Senior League Challenge Cup was a knockout competition for Connacht Senior League clubs that ran between 1981 and 1994. It consisted solely of intermediate clubs and was considered the third most important competition in Connacht soccer after the senior league itself and the Connacht Senior Cup(that also featured junior clubs). The finals took place around the end of the season usually after the league finished and Mervue United were the most successful winning the first four cups while Sligo Rovers were the only club from outside the Galway city area to win it. During the group and play-off league season of 1994-95 the competition didn't take place and after the creation of 2 divisions it was replaced by a Premiership cup. The two divisions were scrapped after one season but the name 'premiership' was retained and so was the Premiership cup with the finals occasionally taking place around the halfway stage of the season. In what turned out to be the final league season the name 'premiership' was removed and the Premiership cup scrapped. That season saw the revival of the League cup (a group and knockout competition), but the Millennium cup competition that was played in the second half of the season would have been more related to the original Challenge cup.
